Next Technology Tecnotessile (NTT) is a national research company established in 1972, according to the Italian Law N° 1089/68, establishing a special Fund for Applied Research. NTT capital is shared among circa 35 partners both public (Ministery of University and Research) and private (textile, textile machinery and industrial software Italian Companies). NTT has a wide network of business with private industries, providing them technological and advanced services, and represents today a reference point for research and technological innovation in the textile and textile machinery sectors, including, over the 35 industrial member, a number clients of around 200 companies and business organisations.
NTT participated, also as coordinator, in projects funded by the LIFE programmes, the Framework Programmes, HORIZON2020 and COSME programmes concerning the textile and technical textile sectors.
Since 2011 NTT is the leading managing body of OTIR2020, a established cluster organization, working in fashion key sectors of the Tuscan manufacturing economy. OTIR2020 principal aims are the operational support in the innovation process and technology transfer in favour of local companies, providing technical assistance and support for the development of new R&D based projects. In September 2016, the name of the cluster is changed in OTIR2020 – Tuscany Fashion Cluster.
OTIR2020-TFC works in key sectors of the Tuscan manufacturing economy and its principal aims are the operational support in the innovation process and technology transfer in favour of local companies, providing technical assistance and support for the development of new evolutionary patterns.
The new network organisations is an initiative of the Region of Tuscany to be one of a center of innovation to support and protect the competitiveness of the manufacturing system in Tuscany.
OTIR2020-TFC aims to carry out an efficient action in support of the textile and Fashion Industry as a whole, through a wide range of services (integrated and co-produced by the most skilled actors operating in the area) in the field of innovation. Actually, the new competence center will operate mainly in the regional areas of fashion, namely:
- textiles, clothing and technical textile (district of Prato and Florence area for the clothing)
- leather (Santa Croce)
- footwear (Lucca, Pistoia-Valdinievole)
- goldsmith and jewelery area (Arezzo).
